I want to share my process of creating my Bubsy Bobcat fanart. Why Bubsy? Because this character has nostalgic ties to my past. I loved playing the first game on the Genesis growing up. Recently, last month, I found out Bubsy 4D was announced. To celebrate the news, I made this illustration. Bubsy 4D has a lot of potential to be good and to be his own character, not as a Sonic rip-off.

Initial sketch

I started with a rough red sketch on blue for Bubsy to make him stand out. Sketching is a favorite part of the process as I can let my ideas flow out.

Final result? No.

This look finished, but something is missing.

Final!

I could have stopped at the previous phase, but I felt something was missing. Some browns to give it the illusion of distance and depth for fields.
